About me - Girl Warrior

About me

Jen Swain, Jen DeneenHello wonderful readers! I am Jen Swain, formerly Jen Deneen. Being a girl in the modern world is hard work!  My hope is to offer loving suggestions and stories to help girls of all ages become brave, confident GIRL WARRIORS…in a day and age where “not enough” haunts them more than ever. Throughout this blog, I will share some of my own experiences and struggles as a girl and as a mother of a daughter.  I will also be sharing interviews with women who have accomplished feats of courage to achieve their goals. You may also find some book recommendations throughout my blog – reading with my daughter is something I hold dear to my heart; even though some nights I’m totally on the struggle bus just to get my kids into their beds!

A little more about me —> I am a straight up Hoosier. One attempt to live out west and I ended coming right back to the heart of the country, to Indiana in the cozy Midwest where my family resides…where we have ALL seasons. I am a mother of two, a girl and a boy. At heart, I am a girly girl. I grew up with three sisters who were much tougher than I. I LOVE having a daughter and doing all things girly with her. In my free time, I like running, reading, shopping like it’s my job, antiquing and DIY-ing, golfing with my husband, volunteering, and enjoying the freshwater lakes of Indiana.

I have always been interested in psychology and behavioral studies. Motherhood has inspired me, even more, to pursue a future in behavioral science. I graduated from Indiana University in 2009 and am currently acquiring my Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis. I look forward to a future of developing and implementing behavioral interventions that will provide children with more fulfilling lives. I hope you enjoy this blog and find something useful or special to carry with you. I am a brand new blogger totally winging it, and ALWAYS open to and SO appreciative of feedback!!

WIth love,

Jen
